Black Sanglain is one of the two chariot-horses of Cuchulain (Setanta), an Irish mythological hero. The horses appeared to Cuchulain from the Black lake of Sanglain in the mountains. Cuchulain leaped onto their backs, and they ran around Ireland for a day but could not throw him off. Black Sanglain and the Grey of Macha led Setanta's chariot through all his legendary feats.
